On the 10th of November I will take a step into the complete unknown by exhibiting a small selection of my printed artworks, hand drawings and photographs at the Goodwood Arthouse Market, Aside from the obvious excitement is the tantalising fear of "will they like my ...photos/drawings etc? I suppose it is not unusual that a novice like myself should struggle with fear of rejection or comparison when so many amazing, talented and well known artists have openly written and spoken about the same. Despite my hesitation, I dearly love my little creations and I can't wait to hear whether people like them or hate them and I look forward to (hopefully) having people take them home and get enjoyment from them too!
A few years ago I wouldn't have tried to do this, I wouldn't even have known where to begin and I would have assumed no one was interested, but now suddenly it feels right, doors are opening all around me, and I'm finding new ways to entertain myself and learn new techniques. A very good friend of mine said to me the other day "are you sure you're ok? you're so positive these days" and I had to laugh. Look, don't get me wrong, I don't want to sound all "Eat Pray Love" here-but I do feel that learning to let go and sending these little doodles, prints and photos into the big bag world has released some kind of positivity!!
So, if you do find yourselves in Adelaide on the 10th of November, come on down and say hello at the Goodwood Arthouse Markets. I'll be the one looking a little bit scared, a little bit excited but pretty happy as well!
